Join me on a Behind The Scenes of a shoot, VLOG Episode 01

Hey there, I'm Nathan Thomas, a videographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. Join me as I take you behind the scenes of a typical shoot day.

Today, I'm prepping for a half-day shoot, focusing on a single-camera interview with three-point lighting. After scouting locations, I settled on an open space in my office for its depth of field potential.

I'm excited to test out my new shotgun microphone designed for indoor dialogue with my trusty Sony A7sIII camera, known for its reliable autofocus.

Setting up equipment takes time, but it's crucial for a smooth shoot. I always aim to create a relaxed atmosphere, joking around with the interviewee to keep things light and enjoyable.

Being a one-man band videographer means I need to stay organized and calm to ensure everything runs smoothly. Let's dive into the action!
